Vendor Profile – Sauvie Island Organics

Sauvie Island Organics is a farm that’s located 15 miles from downtown Portland, nestled among farmland and wildlife refuges. For over a decade they have been growing vegetables in the rich soils of Sauvie Island. They are dedicated to providing delicious, seasonal, local foods to Portland area residents through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

Recenty, the Red and Black has received beets, carrots, chard, basil and kale from Sauvie Island Organics. And you can look foward to more, too!

What’s a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a socio-economic model of agriculture and food distribution. A CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation where the growers and consumers share the risks and benefits of food production. CSAs usually consist of a system of weekly delivery or pick-up of vegetables and fruit in a vegetable box scheme.
